This course provides a comprehensive introduction to fan coil units (FCUs), one of the most widely used terminal devices in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. You'll learn how FCUs use hot or chilled water from a central plant to heat or cool individual spaces, making them ideal for hotels, offices, apartments, and commercial buildings requiring independent temperature control.

Through detailed animations and clear explanations, the course explores the construction and operation of a fan coil unit, including its fan, heat exchanger coil, air filter, drain pan, control valves, and thermostat. You'll also learn the differences between two-pipe and four-pipe systems, the principles of forced convection heat transfer, and how airflow, water temperature, and coil design influence system performance.

By the end of this course, you'll have a solid understanding of fan coil unit components, operating principles, common applications, maintenance requirements, and the advantages and limitations of FCU systems in modern HVAC installations.
