This course explains how to correctly determine valve packing size using stem diameter and stuffing box measurements. You will learn the standard calculation methods used in industry, how to apply practical rounding for nominal imperial and metric packing sizes, and how to select the correct packing cross-section for valve maintenance and repair.

The course also covers stuffing box depth measurements, packing stack height calculations, and determining when carbon bushings or spacers are required. Through worked examples in both imperial and metric units, you'll learn how to calculate spacer lengths and ensure proper gland compression for reliable sealing performance.

By the end of this course, you will be able to confidently select valve packing dimensions and supporting components to ensure effective valve sealing and long service life.
