This course provides an in-depth introduction to compressed air non-fired pressure vessels, commonly known as air receivers, air bottles, or air cylinders. You’ll learn why these vessels are used in compressed air systems and how they provide reserve capacity, stabilize system pressure, reduce compressor cycling, and assist with moisture removal.

Through clear explanations and practical examples, the course explores pressure vessel construction, including cylindrical shells, hemispherical ends, materials, weld inspection, and hydrostatic testing. You’ll also learn about important vessel ratings such as maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP).

The course also covers essential fittings and safety devices, including condensate drains, safety relief valves, pressure gauges, fusible plugs, inspection openings, and lifting lugs. By the end of the course, you’ll understand how compressed air pressure vessels improve system efficiency and how they are designed and protected for safe and reliable operation.
